Increase health care coverage for Iowans by expanding Medicaid
With 40 percent of people living with MS unable to continue full-time employment 10 years after their diagnosis, many lack employer-based health coverage. Fortunately, Medicaid provides prescription drug coverage, physician and hospital care, and pays for services that allow people with MS to remain independent. Yet, not enough people are eligible because of the current income requirement.
Expanding Medicaid eligibility to 133 percent of the federal poverty level will help approximately 17,200 uninsured Iowans get access to quality and preventive care so they can be healthier and more productive. We need you to let your legislator know that more Iowans, including those living with MS, deserve access to affordable, comprehensive coverage by expanding Medicaid to 133 percent of the federal poverty level.
