Event Set-Up:
Join us in the morning to set up and prepare the site for the day’s events. Jobs may involve unloading and distributing supplies, setting up tables and chairs, and hanging banners and signage. Set-up may be different at each site and may involve a variety of tasks, but your help is critical in ensuring that everything is ready before the walkers arrive! (lifting involved)
Parking Assistant:
Volunteers will be scheduled in pairs to direct traffic in the parking areas. Safety vests and flags will be provided and must be used during this volunteer shift. Specific instructions will be given to alert you to alternate parking areas, special vehicles, etc.
Food Service:
Help set up the food service areas, and hand out food and beverages to the walkers before and after the walk.
Registration:
Registration volunteers greet and check in walkers, collect pledge envelopes, distribute t-shirts and provide general event information to walkers as they arrive. Registration volunteers will be trained on the check in process during a mandatory training session the morning of the event.
Team Row Assistant:
The top fundraising teams for Walk MS earn VIP treatment: volunteers are stationed at team tents to assist with team set up and registration. These volunteers help celebrate Team Row teams' great achievements! (Seattle only)
Greeters:
Greeters welcome walkers as they arrive and direct them to the appropriate areas at the walk site. They also answer general participant questions as needed.
Mission Mania:
On the day of the Walk, Mission Maniacs will circulate through the crowd to welcome and thank people for being a part of Walk MS! They will be given orange beads to distribute to the crowd and help cheer people on.
Rest Stop:
Set up rest stop supplies and re-stock supplies as needed. You will create a fun atmosphere for all by cheering and providing food and beverages for participants as they take a short rest.
Route Flagger:
Volunteers will be assigned to major intersections, four-way stops and other such crossings along the route. Flaggers will alert traffic to walkers in the road and keep walkers from wandering off the route. (Seattle, Snohomish County, Bainbridge, Bellingham, Anchorage & Billings only).
Professional:
Got a special talent? Share your skills with Walk MS participants to make it a memorable experience for all. (Massage therapists, musicians, face-painters, etc.)
Photography:
Say cheese! Using your own equipment, you will take team photos, start and finish line photos, and route and celebration photos. A list of desired photos will be provided.
Photography Assistant:
Volunteer will assist the photographer in taking team pictures.
MS=Champions:
A volunteer position for individuals living with MS to help educate, support and cheer on walkers especially as they cross the finish line!
