THANKS, CHICAGO, FOR KEEPIN' IT MUCKY!

On Saturday, over 2,500 muckers, 100 volunteers and thousands of spectators transformed the Lake County Fairgrounds into a Mucky Adventureland!

A pre-run, early morning downpour set the stage for some next-level hijinks in the Muckin' Corral, including the first-ever "muckin' down the aisle" ceremony as an honest-to-goodness groom-to-be and his two groomsmen were showered with mud instead of rice. Congratulations, but next year, bring the wife, fella!

The Triple Pits, Spill Hill and Belly Crawl became Muddy Wonders of the Western World as muckers put on a display of slippy slapstick and plucky perseverance that inspired and charmed the assembled crowd of well-wishers.

We also witnessed an outpouring of heart-warming teamwork and camaraderie as muckers and volunteers reached out with helping hands and cheers of encouragement to make sure everybody conquered the course.

We'd like to give a massive shout-out to some of the top fundraising, big-shouldered teams that really came through in muck-tacular fashion: thanks to the top fundraising team and one of the largest teams with 54 members, Kristen's Muckers, led by captain Chris Mortonson; long-time muck team supreme (51 team members) and top fundraisers, Erin's Mudskippers, helmed by the rock-star fundraising dynamo and MS warrior, Erin Dorn; first-time team Muck this Lesion with 34 team members, led by team captain and MS warrior AnnMarie O'Sullivan; local obstacle sponsor BriovaRx–Filthy Mudicators with over 50 team members, led by captain Amelia Dyon; the cleverly named Revenge of the Nerves came with 34 team members led by captain Trista Tempe. And thanks to the Spartans, the largest team at the event with 59 team members, led by co-captains Richard Duros and Jeff McClurg. Check out all the top fundraising teams and individuals below.

Big thanks and full-throated shout-outs to the incredible volunteer crew who also came through and made the event so memorable and welcoming. We especially want to acknowledge those members of Puck's Posse who worked multiple shifts, stayed late, and put in that extra effort to create an encouraging, fun atmosphere for everyone. Special shout-out to Elsa and members of Team Thiccc for expertly and tirelessly working Crash Landing all day. Thanks to Bob and Don, the dynamic duo who owned Gear Check and told us they'll be back next year! And thanks to the Chamberlain College of Nursing for helping out; we appreciate your commitment to the event and to the cause.

Thanks to all the muckers, their teams and supporters who traveled from near and far to be there on Saturday. We know some of you traveled from neighboring states and from across the country, and we appreciate the extra effort and dedication to the cause.

Special thanks to team Papabear for stepping up and making sure longtime National MS Society super-supporter and MuckFest MS first-timer Milt H. had a team to run with when his son and running partner got injured and couldn't make it—and Milt, we look forward to seeing you and your son next year!

Thanks again to Lake County Fairgrounds for being such a great event site partner.

On a day when everyone brought their A+ Game, all of you deserve a big round of sustained applause and our sincere thanks for making this year's event such a great success!

Thank You

National MS Society Thank You Message

Thank you for coming out and making MuckFest MS Chicago so memorable. We would like to thank all the runners, volunteers, spectators and staff who participated and supported each other this weekend. It is that spirit of support that inspires us to work hard every day of the year to support people living with multiple sclerosis.

There is still time to support the mission behind the “muck.” We've made incredible progress so far and we want to keep that momentum going after the event. Make a donation online now.
