MOVE IT FOR FUN
Video games aren’t just for children anymore! February 5 & 17 the Kentucky-Southeast Indiana Chapter, in conjunction with Fuller Rehabilitation and the Lexington Public Library, will be hosting the first gatherings of our new virtual bowling league for people with MS using the Nintendo Wii ® video gaming platform! The Wii® provides excellent opportunities for exercise; improving range of motion and balance without the use of heavy equipment. Even if you rely on a scooter or wheelchair for mobility, you CAN participate in the MS Virtual Bowling League.
Leagues will be held at:
Gainesway Empowerment Center
1165 Centre Parkway, Suite 100
Lexington, KY
To register call 800-FIGHT MS (800-344-4867) and select option “1”.
*Leagues will be offered in subsequent months in the Louisville area. Check back often for more details on the Louisville League.

MOVE IT AT SCHOOL
Throughout Awareness Week, volunteers will be visiting elementary schools to read the book, “My Grampy Can’t Walk” by Vanita Oelschlager to children ages 4-8. Through the use of this beautifully illustrated book children will be able to begin to explore the concepts of tolerance, individuality and disability. The rhyming prose of the book allow for memorable lessons that will clearly explore what it means to have a disabled family member. Each participating school will receive one free copy of the book for the school library.
If you are interested in having the book, “My Grampy Can’t Walk”, read at your child’s school, or on becoming a volunteer reader, please contact Lizzie Minton at 800-873-6367 ext. 221.

MOVE IT TO WORK OUT
Awareness Week is all about movement! What better place to get moving than at your local gym or workout facility. In honor of Awareness Week, we are asking everyone who exercises at a gym to wear orange while working out. If you would like information to provide to your gym about exercise and MS, please call 800-FIGHT MS and select option “2”.

MOVE IT TO WORK
If you happen to visit the IHOP Restaurant on Veteran’s Parkway in Clarksville, IN or in Lexington on Palumbo Dr., during the week of March 2-6 you might just notice the wait staff decked out in a sea of orange in support of MS Awareness Week.
Your business, too, can “Join the Movement” on Friday by wearing orange to work! Show support for those living with MS by wearing the National MS Society color all day. We’re hoping to create a buzz in communities across the state by having people wear orange to raise awareness of MS.

MOVE IT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
For the first time in Chapter history, the Kentucky-Southeast Indiana Chapter will host a statewide MS Advocacy Day on the Hill in Frankfort, KY on Tuesday, March 3. Volunteers and advocates from around the state will gather in Frankfort to meet with legislators on issues affecting people living with multiple sclerosis. We need volunteers to attend the meet-and-greet brunch with legislators in Frankfort and to attend group meetings with key legislators following the brunch. All talking points will be provided in advance. Buses will be available to shuttle groups from Louisville and Lexington to Frankfort and back. So hitch a ride with us and MOVE IT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
If you are interested in attending the 1st Annual MS Advocacy Day on the Hill please contact Sonya Sandridge at 800-873-6367 ext. 229.
