NOW THAT WAS SOMETHING SPECIAL!
Nothing phases Boston.
Cool temps? You call that cold? Periods of rain? Good, more muck out on the course. Fundraising goal of $630,000? Please, we're at $665,000 and counting. Missing the Royal Wedding on TV? We're Muck Royalty, bub!
The Muck-Force has always been strong in Boston, but this year we witnessed some next-level Jedi Muck-osity from over 5,000 muckers, volunteers and guests. Despite the colder weather, the rain, and the gray skies, Boston came ready to have a blast, take a spill and wipe out MS! Speaking of wiping out, thanks for going to town on our newest obstacle, Boogaloo.
The whole day was something special. You only had to look at the muckers movin' and groovin' while crossing the finish line, or all those dressed up for a wedding, who proclaimed, "Muck yeah, I do" as they conquered the course.
On that note, props to our newlywed muckers Erin and Michael, who got married a few weeks ago and in lieu of gifts, asked for donations to the National MS Society!
Thanks to all the fundraisers who helped shatter the event fundraising goal of $630,000. Leading the way were the top fundraising individuals and teams, listed below, who truly went above and beyond to make this event a phenomenal success.
We'd like to recognize and honor not only our stalwart muck-veterans who make it a party year-in, year-out, but also give a full-throated shout-out to all the mucky new kids on the block, including the top fundraising team FU MS, a first-time team with the no-nonsense name, that showed up with 130 team members and raised a mind-blowing $42,000!
Thanks to the steadfast volunteers for helping to produce a safe, celebratory and meaningful event. A special thank you to the following volunteer groups: USS Constitution sailors; team Muddy Mission from St. Catherine's confirmation classes; team We <3 Mud from UPS; the Shrewsbury Social Club; the Brockton Boys & Girls Club; and the Bearded Villains of New England who decided to be heroes for the day.
And thanks to all the spectators and guests who traveled from hither and yon and braved the wet weather to cheer on friends and family.
Who's our favorite Willard ever? The Willard Athletic Complex, of course. Thanks, Willard for once again being an awesome event site host and partner.
Thank you for coming out and making MuckFest MS Boston so memorable. We would like to thank all the runners, volunteers, spectators and staff who participated and supported each other this weekend. It is that spirit of support that inspires us to work hard every day of the year to support people living with multiple sclerosis.
There is still time to support the mission behind the “muck.” We've made incredible progress so far and we want to keep that momentum going after the event. Make a donation online.
