"MS" stands for multiple sclerosis, an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system, that interrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are moving us closer to a world free of MS. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, with at least two to three times more women than men being diagnosed with the disease. MS affects more than 2.3 million worldwide. This is the reason we come together—to rally friends in support of people living with MS in our community.
They’re raising funds, building teams, and mucking it with multiple sclerosis. These muckers are on a mission to raise awareness and support people living with MS while bringing us closer to a world without MS. They embody the spirit and power of the event. Set aside a few minutes right now to meet some truly awesome people. You’ll be glad you did.
“MuckFest offers a way to connect with others, celebrate our strengths, and respond in a positive way to the challenges of MS.”
Erin D., Veteran Mucker
I MUCK IT WITH MS is a special program that celebrates participants who are also living with multiple sclerosis. MuckFest participants with MS can wear the teal I MUCK IT WITH MS bandanas on the event. The bandanas will be given to participants who selected "I have MS" in response to the registration question, "What is your connection to MS?" Bandanas are mailed to participants two weeks before each event, but a limited supply will also be available to participants at the National MS Society tent in the MuckFestival area of the event site.
“Still wishing MuckFest MS wasn't over! Thanks to all the volunteers and staff who ensured this event was successful. Saturday was the first day in 7 months when I didn't catch myself thinking/worrying about what my future with this diagnosis will bring, and for that I will be forever thankful.”
ReAnn A., Mucker
Collectively, MuckFest and other Society fundraising efforts have helped accelerate research breakthroughs that change lives and will end MS forever.
In addition, we ensure that each person with MS can live their best life with more connections to information, resources and others with shared experiences, and that the voices of people with MS are heard and drive change wherever it is needed.
That’s the amount of donations that MuckFest runners and volunteers have raised to support the life-changing work of the National MS Society. We won’t stop until we end MS. 100% of funds raised by you benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
