BOSTON, THE MUCK MADE YOU DO IT.
And do it, you did!
While MuckFest Boston is always one for the books, this year was exceptionally epic. From the absolutely perfect weather (we planned that ourselves – you're welcome!) to the energy brought by over 4,000 spirited muckers, it was a day we won't soon forget.
From the extra muddy Start Line to the jaunt through the woods and back, you were a force out on the course. Those obstacles didn't know what hit them! We heard many muckers speak of conquering their fears as they scaled Mt. Muck-imanjaro or leapt from Crash Landing. Congratulations to all.
Thanks to all the fundraisers who helped raise over $600,000 (and counting) for the National MS Society. We'd like give a special shout-out to the top fundraising team, FU MS, who in their second year at MuckFest brought 150 team members and raised an unbelievable $45,351. We also want to recognize veteran mucker, Chuck Bean, our top individual fundraiser, who knocked our muddy socks off with $26,400 in fundraising!
Our Boston muckers are committed: from the college grad who skipped his ceremony to get muddy with us, to the entire team dressed as characters from our favorite childhood boardgame (it was totally Professor Plum in the library with the candlestick), we salute your dedication.
And speaking of dedication, we had a record-breaking 200 volunteers join us on Saturday to help create a safe, celebratory and meaningful event! A special thank you to the following volunteer groups: USS Constitution sailors, the Bearded Villains of New England, Arcadia Financial Group, the Ayer Shirley Regional High School National Honor Society, UPS corporate (team MuckUPS), students from Lawrence Academy, and over 60 students and faculty from Groton School.
Finally, a huge thanks to the Willard Athletic Complex for once again being an awesome event site host and partner.
We'd like to thank all the runners, volunteers, spectators, and staff who came out to support each other this weekend. You inspire us to work hard every day of the year to support people living with multiple sclerosis, and to fulfill our vision of a world free of MS.
There is still time to support the mission behind the “muck.” We've made incredible progress so far and we want to keep that momentum going after the event. Make a donation online today.
