Our Statement

In May 2020, the National MS Society and our partners made the difficult decision to cancel the MuckFest MS series indefinitely. While fundraising was increasing, expenses were increasing at a greater rate decreasing our net revenue to the Society. As part of the Society’s tiered approach to work considering COVID-19 impacts, we could not continue with this event in our fundraising portfolio.

The National MS Society celebrates the value MuckFest MS brought to our organization over the last 10 years engaging an important new audience into the MS movement to drive revenue and awareness. We took an early lead in the obstacle course event space in 2013, and we’ve leveraged this unique event experience to bring thousands of new people to our movement and raise more than $35 million over the last decade.

We are calling on our muckers to continue fundraising and engaging with the National MS Society so we can meet the urgent and expanding needs of people affected by MS in this time of crisis and beyond. The COVID-19 pandemic intensifies the challenges of multiple sclerosis, and people with MS need our support now more than ever. You can still make an impact – here are some ways to stay connected:

• At Bike MS, join a community of riders dedicated to changing the world for people with MS one pedal stroke at a time. Feel the extraordinary support and excitement throughout your journey as we come together to reach our goal—a world free of MS.
• Walk MS celebrates the resiliency of the nearly 1 million people living with MS in the United States. Each step you take will sync with the step of thousands of others to make a difference like never before.
• We know that muckers love to celebrate ending MS with their friends and family! Create a DIY fundraising party when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted and make it a fundraising opportunity for your team.
• Are you a gamer or familiar with streaming online? If so, you may be interested in our brand new initiative, Stream to End MS. Whether you’re a classic gamer, an incredible speed runner, content creator, or playing the latest releases, we have a place for you.
• Learn more about Coronavirus and our brand new COVID-19 Relief Fund.

Your continued support ensures our incredible progress and momentum toward a cure continues with force, while we meet the urgent and expanding needs of our community. Our world may look different today, but our commitment to people affected by MS remains.
