Why Bike MS®?

On any given weekend, it's easy enough to find a cycling event. So what is it about Bike MS that makes it so special? Why do teams come back year after year? How is it that signing up to change people's lives can lead to your own being changed?

It's because we're all in it together.

From the friendly competition to see who raises the most money to group training rides when we're riding side-by-side; from the volunteers who hand out ice-cold popsicles when we need them most to the cooks who serve up the most delicious post-ride dinners; from the drivers who have our stuff to the drivers who have our backs, we all rely on and appreciate each other – savoring the joy, the triumphs and the connections on our journey together.

No one can fully describe what it's like to Bike MS—it's something you must experience for yourself.

How Bike MS Works

Bike MS is the fundraising cycling series of the National MS Society and raises more money than any other cycling event for any other cause. To date, Bike MS cyclists, volunteers, and donors have raised more than $1 billion so people affected by MS can live their best lives as we stop MS in its tracks, restore what's been lost and, end MS forever.

Rides throughout the country will take you through the city streets of New York, along the coast of California, through the open fields of the Midwest, or the mile-high elevations in Colorado. Route distances vary from 15 to 150 miles, with some rides being one day, and some being multi-day. One thing is certain: You will have the ride of your life.

You can register to ride in any of our nationwide rides as an individual or as a part of a team. Each ride has a fundraising minimum and features extraordinary cycling routes, support, volunteers, and experiences. So, find one near you, or ride somewhere new!

When you register for an incredible Bike MS ride, you are directly supporting the mission of the National MS Society. You will have access to the best fundraising tools to gather support from all of your networks, and the support of the Society.

You're not alone! We will be with you every step of the way to ensure you are successful in reaching your fundraising goals.

I may not be a world-class researcher, a philanthropist, or doctor giving care. But I can be inspired by others' struggles, the blessings of my own health, and bike for awareness and a cure." – Kim, Team Rock Candy Junkies

What is MS?

Multiple sclerosis is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain and between the brain and body.

Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. The progress, severity, and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are leading to better understanding and moving us closer to a world free of MS. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, with at least two to three times more women than men being diagnosed with the disease. MS affects more than 2.3 million individuals worldwide.
