Why Walk MS®?

Walk MSŪ brings together a community of passionate people to connect and raise funds to change the world for everyone affected by multiple sclerosis. Walk MS takes place at over 400 locations with more than 300,000 people participating annually. We've been walking since 1988 and to date have raised more than $1 billion to drive groundbreaking research, provide life-changing services and guarantee a supportive community for those who need it most. When you participate in Walk MS, you are helping create a world free of multiple sclerosis. Together, we become a powerful force. Together, we will end MS forever.

How Walk MS Works

Each walk is fully-accessible, includes multiple distance options (including a one-mile route option), and features support for walkers by our outstanding volunteers. Once you have registered for Walk MS, you will directly be a part of supporting the mission of the National MS Society, with access to all of the best fundraising tools for asking your networks to support you! And don't worry, we will provide plenty of support and tips to help you be a successful fundraiser.

I formed a team 10 years after I walked with my daughters, the year after my husband was diagnosed. It's a wonderful day filled with laughter, friends and family. I marvel at the fact that our team can make a difference to cure MS, and that's why we do this every year!" – Ginny Grecco, Team Captain, TEAM GUB

What is MS?

Multiple sclerosis is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain and between the brain and body.

Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. The progress, severity, and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are leading to better understanding and moving us closer to a world free of MS. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, with at least two to three times more women than men being diagnosed with the disease. MS affects more than 2.3 million individuals worldwide.
