Bike MS: Historic New Bern Ride 2018

Caroline's Chainbreakers

In 2000, my sister was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). I must confess that I had no idea what MS was - I had to run to the Internet to get the basics. As many of you know, this is a deliberating disease that attacks the central nervous system and it can cripple many of its victims.

I am happy to report that my sister is doing very well for somebody that has been diagnosed with MS for 18 years. My sister started a new MS drug called Lemtrada in 2017 and she is doing much better – in fact, she even recently ran an entire mile for the first time since 2000.

While science is making progress, not everyone's body can accept the various drugs that have been discovered and not everybody can afford these drugs.

Millions of people are still confined to wheel chairs or simply cannot get out of their bed for weeks at a time. Many MS patients cannot exercise because heat causes their MS symptoms to activate and many patients feel constant numbness in several parts of their bodies. In short, life dramatically changes for millions of people when they get the diagnosis.

And this is why we formed a bike team: Caroline’s Chainbreakers. We are riding in honor of my sister Caroline Holland and all MS patients across the globe. We are raising money and awareness.
We would be honored if you would like to either join our team or donate financially. The medicines for MS are getting better – the scientists are making progress and I firmly believe a cure will be found.
If you feel led, we would be honored to receive a donation.
