Arrr Mateys!, Cap'n Greykell here with her merry pyrate band, fighting Multiple Sclerosis one step at a time!
On the final weekend in October, when many other people are heading off to Halloween parties, or relaxing with their friends and family, Team Greykell will be out on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake, walking 50 kilometers. Our goal—a world free of MS.
So, you're pirates and you fight MS? Sounds good, tell me more!
Team Greykell is a group of friends and family of Greykell, who have banded together as a pirate crew to participate in the MS Challenge Walk 2018. The Challenge Walk is a huge challenge, every member of our team raises a minimum of 1500 dollars each so that they can be permitted to walk 50 miles (the walk is only 50 kilometers, but members of Team Greykell have done the extra mileage every year, to bring it up to 50 miles. We're wack jobs, I know). Our volunteers spend the entire weekend supporting all of the walkers, one of our volunteers actually spends many more hours a year, working on helping create the safe routes for us to walk, and captains the Team Greykell MS bike team. Finally, there are our donors. Without you guys, we couldn't possibly manage to keep going every year, and we pledge to keep going until we've got that cure!
Anything else I need to know so that I can help out?
At this point, if you don't know that Team Greykell likes pirates and hates MS, you've been living in a hole in the ground. Become a part of our crew and help eradicate MS, not in my lifetime, that's too long! Let's eradicate MS, sometime in the next decade or so. Let's get it done! Volunteer... walk... DONATE!!
When you make a donation, you are changing the world for people affected by MS. Symptoms of MS range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are leading to better understanding and moving us closer to a world free of MS. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, with at least two to three times more women than men being diagnosed with the disease. MS affects more than 2.3 million worldwide, and there is not yet a cure. Every dollar raised matters to those affected by MS. Thank you for your support.
