Our goal—a world free of MS

To All Our Friends on FB, and fellow Kenfesters,

It seems that everyone we meet knows someone that has Multiple Sclerosis. It affects people in the prime of their lives, between the ages of 20 and 50. Every hour someone is newly diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. More than 2.5 million people worldwide live with this unpredictable disease. The symptoms of MS are different for everyone - the only certainty is that it will affect yet another person every hour of every day.

Ken and Linda Nicastro have been hosting Kenfest for 10 years and a few years back decided to turn it into a Do It Yourself (DIY) fundraiser for The National Multiple Sclerosis Society. As the attendance grew bigger they had to move it to a bigger venue and Jan and Joe Palaia were generous enough to provide the Palaia Vineyard as the ideal place to hold this great event.

Each year we have exceeded our goal and were even given a shout out by the National MS Society as one of the most successful Do It Yourself (DIY} events the past two years. The National MS Society created a donation link which allowed for easier Kenfest contributions and tax deductible receipts. The website is back for KenFest 11 and we hope to exceed last year's total of $8,200.

We know that with support from people like you we can get there. The money raised will help fund amazing progress in MS research, as well as programs and services that ensure people affected by MS can live their best lives.

About MS

When you make a donation, you are changing the world for people affected by MS. Symptoms of MS range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are leading to better understanding and moving us closer to a world free of MS. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, with at least two to three times more women than men being diagnosed with the disease. MS affects more than 2.3 million worldwide, and there is not yet a cure. Every dollar raised matters to those affected by MS. Thank you for your support.
