2019 MuckFest Boston

Down to Muck

Hello family, friends, and supporters - join our team and run with us for a world free of MS! Or donate by clicking the button, any amount makes a difference.

What is MuckFestMS? A 5K with over 18 obstacles, tons of mud, and a celebratory cold beer at the end. It's all going down on Saturday, May 18, and it's going to be a blast! You can walk, job, skip or run through the course. Tackle all the obstacles or pick and choose which ones you want to complete. This is a 5K for everyone (well anyone that likes to get muddy)!

The Facts: Nearly 1 Million in the U.S. have Multiple Sclerosis- you read that right. A study by leading experts estimates that in 2017, nearly 1 million adults (up to 913,925) were living with MS in the United States. This is more than twice the previously reported number from a national study in 1975 and subsequent updates.

What is MS: a chronic, unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. The most common symptoms are overwhelming fatigue, visual disturbances, altered sensation and difficulties with mobility. Most people are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, although individuals as young as 2 and as old as 75 have developed it. More than two to three times as many women as men develop MS. MS occurs in most ethnic groups, including African-Americans, Asians and Hispanics/Latinos, but is most common in Caucasians of northern European ancestry. More than 2.3 million people are affected by MS worldwide, and there are over 21,000 people living with MS right here in New England. It is not contagious or directly inherited. Studies do indicate that genetic factors and certain environmental factors may make certain individuals more susceptible to the disease. There is not yet a cure for MS.

Our Team - Down to Muck: a conglomeration of friends, and friends of friends. Join today, all are welcome!
