For many years after being diagnosed with MS, I was still largely living my life as I did before. Now I have to learn that living with this disease can be a bit like riding a rollercoaster. On good days, I feel like there is nothing I can’t do and the next day I don’t feel like getting out of bed. Everyone that knows me personally sees how stress compounds my symptoms and the last few months have been pretty stressful. I was not sure I was up to leading another Muckfest team this year. Did I really want to add more stress to my life?
This week, I attended the Muckfest board member meeting and changed my mind. I sat around the table with a group of wonderful, veteran captains who asked “me” how they can build up their team, raise money, and get sponsors like we did. Our success last year made a difference for MS research and to me. After that meeting, I realized the best way to move through difficult times is to continue to give back.
