Crop for a Cause

YOU WILL BE INSPIRED!! My team is full of awesome, rock star, butt-kicking, MS warrior fundraisers.  They are who inspire me everyday to do more.

PLEASE SCROLL ALL THE WAY DOWN - to view a video of our team celebrating 10 years together.  Raising 100's of thousands of dollars together.  Laughing together.  Working together.  Because TOGETHER we WILL find a CURE

Our goal—a world free of MS.

We've formed a team for Walk MS—a charity walk that is changing the lives of people with MS and helping fuel progress toward a world free of MS. We'd love your generous support as we prepare for this incredible experience. We have 3 sites you can walk at: our main site is Hoffman Estates and we have 2 additional sites. 1 at St. Charles and 1 at Glenview/North Shore. Please let me know where you would like to walk so I can make sure to have your shirts there and arrange a meet spot with the site captain.

In 1995 I was 31 years old and two months pregnant and suddenly went completely blind. The doctors really didn’t know why (they called it idiopathic) and hoped my sight would return. Within six weeks my sight gradually returned to normal and I went about my life. I had a beautiful son, Chris, and my husband, Jim, and I began this exciting journey we call parenthood.

When Chris was two years old I lost my eyesight again and went numb on the left side of my body. At this time, after many frustrating tests, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Words cannot describe the depth of sadness for our family. Let’s just say that for a while my life became as numb as my left side.

Those of you who know me know that I truly believe things happen for a reason! About a month before my “episode” a client of mine twisted my arm into volunteering for the M.S. Walk –by the time the walk was here I had been diagnosed (ironic, huh?!). Our family has been volunteering for and participating in Walk MS ever since.

In 2007 we came up with the idea to combine a hobby I love with our fundraising and “Crop for a Cause” was created. Unlike many crops, we wanted every single penny to go to charity, so this 100% volunteer group donates all of the proceeds to our events to the National M.S. Society. After the overwhelming success of the 2007 event, we went on to form a team for the Walk (Crop for a Cause: Making M.S. a Memory). We now have over 140 people on our team. We have been the #1 team for our site ever since and have earned a place in the team village each year as well!!Due to our enthusiasm and dedication we now run five different events a year, all raising money for The National MS Society. A few years ago, we took a leap of faith and started our own foundation to allow this group to soar to higher levels!! This has all reinforced my feeling that together we can do what alone we cannot!!!

I can only imagine the possibilities for the future…

That's why we're walking. We've set an ambitious goal because we know with support from people like you, we will have a great chance at reaching it. The money raised will drive groundbreaking research, provide life-changing programs and guarantee a supportive community for those who need it most. This cause is really important to us, so we hope you can do your part to help end MS forever.

Will you help us reach our goal by donating what you can? Or even better, join us fpr Walk MS!

About MS

When you make a donation, you are changing the world for people affected by MS. Symptoms of MS range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are leading to better understanding and moving us closer to a world free of MS. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, with at least two to three times more women than men being diagnosed with the disease. MS affects more than 2.3 million worldwide, and there is not yet a cure. Every dollar raised matters to those affected by MS. Thank you for your support.
